This video captures the need for Canadian fishers to report gear lost at sea. This not only helps keep oceans clean but also returns lost gear to the fishermen. Nets and other equipment used to be made out of cotton, twine, or wood. Today they are made out of synthetic materials that will not biodegrade. This gear is not only expensive but a major threat to ocean marine life. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans contracted to produce this action-adventure style video to promote the program.
